Lillia's Story

Boost Collaborative, in conjunction with the Washington State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), provided services that helped me launch my career in IT. I started working with Boost Collaborative and DVR back in 2012, but I needed to work on stabilizing my health. I reopened my case in 2014, and did another community work based assessment with Boost Collaborative.

Then I received help from DVR with education services, I initially started in the nursing program, but found that was not a good fit, so I switched to a self-study program for the CompTIA A+ certification--an IT industry recognized certification.

I am now employed and provides remote and on-site technical support services for a textbook company serving 700+ stores across the country. I fix cash registers, PCs, printers, resolve software/network issues, and help with user account access.

I have obtain a full time job with full benefits and a very decent salary package.

With coaching from Boost Collaborative, I learned skills that helped me search for, obtain, and keep employment. I learned marketable skills, and ways to navigate work environments. I grew up in poverty, and now I am no longer stuck in it thanks in part to the services I have received. I was so happy when I received the news that I landed this job I cried.
